Library Survey Results

Outstanding Library Survey Results
The results from the 2008 library survey conducted toward the end of last year showed significant improvement when compared with the 2006 survey.
>>Overall, the ECU Library is now performing in the top 25% for student satisfaction of all Australian academic libraries surveyed in the last 2 years.
>>Improvement was shown in all of the six Best Practice categories including Communication, Service Quality, Service Delivery, Facilities and Equipment, Library Staff and Virtual Library.

Nevertheless, we intend to build on these outstanding results to deliver an even better library service by:
>Continuing to provide top quality customer service by examining processes and training staff
>Providing alternative ways that students can communicate with the library using new technologies
>Providing alternative ways of delivering services using new web 2.0 technologies
>Improving our electronic and print collections
>Expanding opening hours

Your continuing feedback is vital to our improvement so tell us when we are doing something well or where we need to improve.

Library Survey $100 Voucher Winners

CONGRATULATIONS... to the five students who won $100 vouchers to spend at the ECU Bookshop: Alan Byrne, Amy Roberts, Lillian Tan, Jean Evans and Jo-Anne Bastian (pictured receiving her voucher from the University Librarian).

All students who filled in the library survey run last October went into a draw for the vouchers. Even though you may not have won a voucher, we'd like to thank all students who filled in the survey. The results are valuable to us and will result in even better library services.

Kind Regards,
Dan Archibald

Reciprocal borrowing at UWA, Curtin, Murdoch, Notre Dame and TAFE

A reminder to all ECU students and staff that you are able to register at UWA, Murdoch, Curtin and Notre Dame University libraries to borrow items.

There is a new convenient online reciprocal registration process for UWA, Murdoch and Curtin libraries. Just go to the webpage, and follow the instructions. You will still need to take your ECU University ID card with you when you attend the library in person.

For reciprocal borrowing from Notre Dame, you must still take your University ID and proof of enrolment, you cannot use the online registration process.

ECU students can also join any TAFE library by taking their University ID card with them and proof of current enrolment.

Laptop Security in the Library

For all new students, and a reminder for returning students, the campus libraries have laptop security leashes that you can borrow for several hours to use within the library.

These may help prevent opportunist theft of your laptop, but they do need to be secured to an immovable object to work properly. Ask at the library enquiry desk for one next time you are in the library.
